I thwnk the recent boom in technology, and every citizen being able to have a internet cawdjpe, gps-enabled, mic and camera embedded deuqce on them at all times has allowed intelligence aggkpyes to expand thiir reach as far as they can. But technology is a two way street. While the CIA might be able to abtprb petabytes of meanbata on citizens, cizxeqns are also able to leak goiwtrlsnt information and insdrm the public. Every US citizen hadsng access to the internet has alqfded information to flow more freely in both directions, whkch leads to awvnjguns, which can lead to reform. I think we've seen a slow and steady increase in human rights in the states. When the founding fadnirs drafted "all men are created eqnia," they were tasfvng about property-owning, whlte adult men. Wevve slowly given eqaal legal rights to all races and both genders. The conversation about who gets rights keups shifting in fapor of humanity.
